Sometimes there is a need for something different

Unique situations require bespoke solutions

We enjoy working with our clients through the design process from the early stages of brief development and sketches to specific 2d drawings and 3d models on the way to the final build.

If you have an idea that you would like to develop and cannot find a perfect fit within our website, please reach out to us and our architect will happily guide you along the way to getting your own architecturally designed sauna experience.

Matching oak cladding to an existing house

For this project, particular care was taken to match the oak cladding of our client’s existing house (designed by Diener & Diener in 2010) with the smallest model of the Scandinavian Sauna.

The ambition of our architect was to make the sauna building belong in the existing family of volumes and material palettes found on this lush coastal countryside site, located on Falster, Denmark.

Over time the cladding will take on the exact same shade as the same oak wood and the particular mix of oil treatment that has been used on the house.

The Scandinavian Sauna team deliberately sourced the exact same cladding from the exact same sawmill used for the house.

White sauna featuring integrated exterior bench

Situated in the garden of the owner's home on the coast of Falster in Denmark, this custom mobile sauna acts as a real-world testing ground for innovative features. With a footprint of 4.4 sqm and white painted cladding, it's designed to visually integrate with the existing nearby buildings.
Among its new features are a broad outdoor bench, perfect for relaxation between sauna sessions and dips in the sea. Inside, a specialized sauna varnish adds both aesthetic appeal and durability to the walls. A newly added small back window facilitates easy communication with people in the main house, as well as enabling parents to watch over their children playing outside.
As the architect noted, "This particular sauna is our way of practically experimenting with new elements before offering these to our clients." The primary goal here is straightforward: to continue innovating while enhancing the overall user experience.

Integrates with the existing red architecture of the area

Nestled within the striking scenery of Holbæk, west of Copenhagen, Denmark, this custom-designed red sauna harmoniously integrates with the existing red architecture of the area. With our focus on custom builds, we precisely matched the sauna's color to the locale's dominant RAL hue, fulfilling the unique aesthetic vision of Holbæk Vinterbade Forening.

Attention to detail sets our work apart. Alongside custom cladding and trailers, we offer the option of custom-painted door hinges in any RAL color. This allows even the smallest elements to be tailor-made to client specifications, reaffirming our commitment to crafting a singular sauna experience.

An exciting new feature is the addition of a back-lit mirror in the changing room. This enhancement exemplifies how we cater to diverse sauna routines and preferences, going above and beyond to meet the specific needs of our clients.

The primary goal of each build is clear: to innovate and elevate the sauna experience through thoughtful, custom design. Feel free to reach out to begin your journey toward a custom, architecturally designed sauna experience.

Helenekilde Badehotel

Located on the shoreline north of Copenhagen, Helenekilde is more than a hotel. It is an unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere, more like a welcoming home, offering guests quality, informal luxury and authentic Danish ‘Hygge’.

The building was thoroughly renovated in 2008 by owner and former ballet dancer Alexander Kølpin, who carefully furnished and restored this beautiful coastal house.

The purpose of the sauna, was to enhance the bathing experience for visitors both during summer and winter.

"It has been a pleasure to work with Cecilie & Jakob. They have a dedicated, uncompromising approach and attention to detail. The care for quality in their product clearly pays off.

The true authentic Scandinavian Sauna oozes timeless quality and will become a classic at the
Helenekilde Badehotel, running many years ahead. It’s hot!”

- Alexander Kølpin, Danish actor, director & former royal ballet dancer turned Hotelier - running several hotels around Copenhagen.

Rural colour scheme

The aesthetic of the sauna was incredibly important to Alexander who really enjoyed our largest model but wanted a more rural colour scheme. We provided Alexander with thermo treated spruce for the exterior cladding, thus creating a warmer aesthetic. Colours of all light fixtures, doors handles and the roof were carefully coordinated in order to work in harmony with the trailer and the cladding.

Internally, walls are lined with Scandinavian spruce and seats are made from thermo-treated Aspen, which feels cool towards the skin and aligns with the premium Danish furniture of the hotel. A brass shower tap was provided in collaboration with Toni Copenhagen.
